After a year of getting used to the new RTX concept from Nvidia’s new graphics cards, this graphics card brand once again makes gamers confused with a new GPU called SUPER.
It seems that the relationship in performance as well as practical applications between 2060 – 2070 – 2080 – 2080Ti is quite loose, leaving many gaps and regrets for gamers every time they decide to buy a graphics card.
Looking at the parameters of the RTX 2070 SUPER, we can see that this graphics card uses the TU-104 core of the RTX 2080, not the TU-106 on the RTX 2070. However, the CUDA cores, RT cores and Tensor cores are all the same.
Thanks to the high clock speed, the gaming ability on the RTX 2070 SUPER becomes much stronger than its predecessor RTX 2070, but it does not reach the power of the RTX 2080 because of the reduction in the TU-104 core.
Something deeper for gamers is that the NVLink feature to connect two RTX cards appears on the RTX 2070 SUPER, showing that this is clearly a shortened graphics card of the RTX 2080 but at a price of
Anyway, I agree with Nvidia’s naming of the new card line.
Here are some game tests using Metro Exodus and Total War: Warhammer II to compare the RTX versions:
In terms of temperature, the RTX 2070 Super has a temperature level of 80 / 82 degrees Celsius when running at full load at an ambient temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. This result is similar to the previous RTX 2080, quite stable for gaming.
